Baby Emily Campbell

Little Emily Campbell (that's her middle name!) made her way into the world in November, and good mommy that Christy is, we did her newborn session during the first 10 days after she was born! We always do those shoots so soon after birth because the babies are much more sleepy, flexible, and overall much more cooperative...

Except Emily. Emily is a rule-breaker! (It's the name! :)  ) Emily was NOT having any of this picture taking stuff and howled a good six hours through our first appointment. I kid you not! I probably snapped 20 images total in all those hours (we spent lots of time chatting too :) )  and all were total throw-aways. So, I asked Christy and Jon if I could come back the next day to see if Emily was in a better mood.

Well! What do you know! She was! She was in a great mood and was a total model baby for us. The session was still on the longer side (not six hours though!) because I'm still working on my baby technique (lol), but I think it went pretty well, don't you?

I know it's not the holidays anymore, but be sure to keep a lookout for the shots of Emily inside a Christmas stocking... that Christmas stocking was given to me by my Grandmother, and each member of my family has a hand-knit stocking in the same style. The girls all have Santa Clauses and the boys all have "something else," lol. I think my brother has a snowman, somebody else has a reindeer? Anyway, at the top of each stocking, our names are knit into the top. So the top of this stocking says, "EMILY," so you know I had to use it for our session. I didn't do a good job at making sure the name was visible, but I still think Emily looks pretty sweet in it, don't you?

As a refresher, here is where you might be recognizing Jon & Christy from!

Perhaps their ENGAGEMENT SESSION?

Or maybe their WEDDING at the Firehouse?

Or was it the MATERNITY session we did?

Jon & Christy are really a great example of how to really utilize your Platinum Package.. there is no expiration as to when those sessions need to be used, so take your time! I love seeing my couples grow and move into the next stage of their life- be it marriage or even a new baby. If this is your first time checking out J & C, go peek back at some of their old sessions. They've been around since 2008, so there is quite an evolution of the quality of my work over the last two years- sometimes it's good to remember where you've been so you can remember how far you've come!

and with that, meet Emily...

:D I love, love LOVE that shot!

PS: I made that quilt we have her lying on top of in many of the shots (the one that looks like it's a bunch of different blankets- it was a failed attempt at a "Princess & the Pea" idea...lol), and I also made the headband with the GIANT flower. It looks pretty cute on my head too you know! LOL
