Miner's Foundry Cultural Center Wedding Photography (Scott & Justine are Married!)

"What the heck is a fripple?" I heard myself asking.
And the bride answered.
And her sisters and bridal party answered.
And I was sorry I asked.
When I got home I laughed until I almost peed.
But that's not appropriate at weddings.
So I held it until I got home.
Ahem.
It was like 40 degrees and raining, with snow on the ground. I shouldn't have had to ask.
LOL

There wasn't room in the video for this one (below), but I of course would never deprive you of your giggles so I'm posting it right afterwards! Kind of like dessert, right? LOL

The Citizen Hotel Sacramento, Bridal Portraits

Yes I made up that nickname. Yessssssssss I know the spelling is all kinds of bad. (WHINE!) But how else are you supposed to know how to pronounce it if I wrote it "Loggie"? You'd think I was talking about a LOG when really I am talking about my sweet lil Logan! :)

Because I'm a mean and abusive photographer, and I like to pick on my clients, I'm going to share the top-secret compliments Logan paid me when another potential client emailed her for a review of my services. I think I shall have her response framed. (And Alisa's, who also wrote up a delicious [is that gross?] little vanity-increaser. SWOON! But that's for another day. ;) )

1.) How satisfied were you with your pictures overall?
Extremely satisfied with our pictures. I personally love the photos that are more artistic but I wanted some of the traditional ones as well and we got a great amount of both plus she gives you every picture she takes and I enjoyed that. She got pictures of everything the guests, and details and if you have any requests she will do that as well. What I loved most was that in the pictures you could really see the happiness we were beaming with that day and the love we share. All our friends and family commented about the emotion they could see through the photos. To me that was important because 10 or 20 years from now you may not remember the flowers you used or the cake mishap but you ll remember the feelings you shared and the pictures truly expressed that.

2. How would you rate Emily's professionalism on your wedding day?
I would give her a 10. She knows how to make you feel comfortable and to take the nerves away(which you'll probably have) My husband nor I had ever taken professional photos so we were a tad bit nervous of that whole experience in itself. But Emily really made you feel good, what I really enjoyed was if I was doing a pose or facial expression that wasn't my best she told me! I LOVED that because the last thing I wanted was to look dumb in all the photos on the flip side she'll tell you when your looking good and that's always motivating and feels good. She shined with helping at the wedding and even bustled my dress since my girls couldn't figure it out!

3. Were there any surprises or problems that came up? How were they taken care of?
With Emily no problems but other things yes haha but another reason I loved Emily was I had dj problems and he played the wrong song while I walked down the aisle minor detail but Emily made us a video after our wedding and played the song I WAS suppose to walk down to. It meant alot that she went out of her way to do that for us and still brings tears to my eyes when I watch it. She really pays attention, right before I walked down I started to freak out but she was like take a deep breath....and it was nice that she was there she really cares about her brides and to me that is amazing.

4.) Is there anything else I should know when considering Emily as my photographer?
I really love everything about Emily she has wonderful ideas and is up for any ideas you throw out there. On your wedding day, she will make you the priority and keep you on track time wise. We have got so many compliments of our wedding photos and photography. To me photography was one of the most important aspects of our day. She really went above and beyond what we could have ever asked for. Let her know what you like and want and she'll do it. She's all about making her brides happy.

Maybe I should send it to my MOM! :D Hee, hee. :) Thank you Logan! Made my month! (And you too, Alisa!)

Today is my birthday. I turn a year younger again this year. (Ahem.)
And life isn't really what I planned it to be.

I think a lot of us can say that from year to year, but this last year for me has been particularly awful. I have accomplished some great things in my business, but my personal life is about as far from what I thought it would be as possible.

A year ago, I thought I would be spending this day, today, with my partner. Hopefully, by today, or soon from today, that person would be my husband. The man who loved me, thought I was beautiful and would be with me forever. ( A love quote I don't think I'll ever forget.)

I thought we would be getting ready to start our family. I thought we would be immensely happy. I never thought that when he promised he would be with me for forever that what that really meant was until he ceased to exist.

That I would be spending this day, a year from then, alone, lonely, and praying that I never have to go through the heartache and trauma that I have gone through these last seven months. I never would have thought a year ago, that I would be praying that I would always be alone from now on. Because today, I know that I can't handle this pain ever again.

A year from today, I can only hope that all of the hours I spend in therapy each month will have been effective enough for me to not feel this way anymore. That good things will have happened. That life will have changed. That I will know what it is to have personal happiness again, and not to just live it through my clients and their families.

Holding my client's sweet new baby girl this last week my heart lept with joy, and broke into a million pieces all at once.

Today is not a good day. And on not good days, there are things I cling to. This necklace I wear everyday now, my friends, my animals, sometimes my pound puppy. The inspirational words from someone who has had their own trial.

Something else that helps?
This.
It has a clear religious message, and from a religion that is not even my own, but that doesn't mean that the words and feelings don't ring true for me. Or for other people for that matter. The universal human experience, in this case, of suffering, of overcoming hardship, can be felt, heard and related to no matter what you believe in... or don't believe in for that matter.

It's the human experience, and the knowledge that we are not alone that I will always take away from this video, and bring home to me with comfort.

The part that stays with me, late at night when I can't sleep? The part that stays with me, to comfort myself, to reassure myself that it will be coming someday for me too:

Photobucket

I can do hard things.

One day, I will believe this.

Someone else is also struggling with this right now, and if you have a minute, please take some time and see if you can help this local family.

And now we return to our regularly scheduled, less personal programming...

Kirkwood Hideout Rustic Chic Wedding Reception Details

THe 3rd and final installment of Jamie & Jesse's wedding at the Hideout near Kirkwood! I hope you have enjoyed these posts the last week! I love this wedding so much I am going to use it to make a proof book for you gals when we do consultations. Aren't I so nice? LOL (I know that makes no sense. And I am totally okay with that. )

Jamie, her Mom, Dad are the masters behind this reception. The details are fantastic. Jamie's mom was a Once Wed Blog aficionado and pulled a MILLION ideas from it. Jamie's dad even got down on the craftiness and hand stamped all of those brown bags for everyone to put their treats in from the candy bar. By far, this was my favorite display and set up for a dessert section so far. I would LOVE to see one of you girls try to out do them because this one was PHENOMENAL!

The food was catered by Mountain Magic. I HIGHLY recommend it. I remember having a full conversation with the people at my table about the food! That rarely happens. One of the women at the table was a vegetarian and she went on and on about how wonderful the selections were and about how much there was she could actually eat, something rare for a wedding. I don't know if it was intentional on the couple's part, but I thought the food was beautiful, diverse, delicious, and very well received!
