Carmel by the Sea Mission San Carlos Wedding

Nick and Jess married at the Mission San Carlos in Carmel by the Sea, on the California coast. Jessica carried her grandmother's handkerchief and ring in remembrance of her, which was very sweet! After the ceremony, we took some pictures on the grounds of the Carmel Mission, which is currently undergoing quite a bit of construction, and then headed out to Big Sur for some cliff side beach images! Check back later in the week for those!

We've been out of town for destination weddings for two weeks, but will be returning to the office shortly! I'm terribly sick (probably from all the travel :(  ) but if I can bear it at all I'm going to start working on emails again today. We'll get back to each of you as soon as possible!

Carmel Wedding Reception at the Pine Inn & Il Fornaio

I don't very often blog reception pictures because they are mostly party pictures and I personally favor the emotional parts of the wedding- the romantic couples portraits (that especially), the ceremony, and of course the lovely details that usually have some sentimental factor. Those are of course inspirational to other brides too, and I want to attract brides that are driven by the same sorts of ideas that I am- those that will prioritize couple alone time, so we can truly dedicate some time to couple's portraits (so much fun!), and those that really love a good natural portrait.

That said, I do post reception shots- just not all that often. But when I do share them, they have to be either really beautiful, really emotional, or really funny. These would be the latter.

Who do you think is going to catch the bouquet readers??? Place your bets. :)

That was a first.

Re-do! Re-do!

Here's the real bouquet-catcher!

I thought that was awesome. LOL

HideOut at Kirkwood Wedding Reception

And here is part 2 of Christina & Dustins fabulous wedding, starting with their romantic sunset canoe ride around the lake! This was totally inspired by Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner's wedding at their ranch in Colorado, which included a sunset canoe ride with just the couple. It's totally the most romantic part of the day that I spend with all of my couples when I head out to Kirkwood and I always have so much fun shooting these couple's images!

After their canoe ride, Christina and Dustin headed down to the reception, which they had out on the lawn in front of the grove of trees by the bunkhouse. It was a more formal set up and looked absolutely amazing lit by candlight and covered in roses!

As the sun came down, the dessert bar opened up! At this reception, they offered a s'more station around the campfire, a donut tower from Marie's donuts, and an assortment of cakes and mini desserts too! And a candy station!

Romantic HideOut at Kirkwood Wedding

These two amazing lovebirds married at my favorite venue of all time, The Hideout at Kirkwood. Owned and built by BJ & Tom Hoover, this 5,000 square foot cabin sleeps at least 20 people, has a a custom hottub for at least that many people, a lake to fish in and woods to shoot in! Friends and family can camp out on the property and there are trails everywhere to go hiking. This is the most precious gem in Lake Tahoe's possible wedding venues and vacation spots!!!

Christina modeled her wedding after Kevin Costner's to Christine Baumgartner, and completely embraced the outdoor theme, even going so far as to brave the heat and have her amazing bridesmaids help her put her wedding dress on outside, in the woods on the Hoover's property! Lots of our brides have elected to do this and it's been such an incredible experience!

After getting dressed in the woods, and some final touches, Christina strolled off to her romantic first look with husband to be Dustin!

And now it was time to get married! Check out their gorgeous Hideout Kirkwood Ceremony!

Afterwards we went for some formal pictures of the bridal party and family! Aren't those lace gloves on the bridesmaids amazing?

Dustin's groomsmen were so handsome in their grey suits!

After that it was time for a little sunset canoe ride around the lake, which is where we will pick up in the next blog post!
